Ayers Rock, officially Uluru / Ayers Rock, is considered a wonder of the natural world. Situated in the central Australian outback, it is a rock formation (what geologists term an “inselberg” – an “island mountain”) that leaves one in awe of its size and beauty. It has adorned many a cover of books describing the wonders of Australia for decades and continues to be one of the most popular tourist sites in the country.
